# Invitations

# Manage & Edit Guest List

# Add More Guests

**Can I add guests after I've already sent my Invitation?**\
Yes. Your guest list isn't locked the moment you hit send. Head to your Event Page, open the guest list, and add new guests whenever you need to — whether that's day one or the week before the party.

**Will newly added guests receive the Invitation?**\
Yes. As soon as you add them, they'll get the same Invitation your original guests received, including the event details and RSVP link.

**Can I add multiple guests at once?**\
You can add guests one at a time by entering their email address, or import a list if you've got a longer lineup. Either way, it gets handled quickly.

**Is there a limit to how many guests I can add?**\
Free Invitations support up to 750 guests. If your gathering has outgrown that, Evite Pro gives you up to 2500 guest list capacity.

**How do I know who I've already invited?**\
Your guest list lives in your Event Page dashboard — names, RSVP statuses, and all. Worth a quick check before you add someone twice. (It happens.)

**What if I want to add a guest but don't have their email?**\
You can share your shareable event link directly — via text, social, or however works best — so they can RSVP on their own.

For the steps on how to add your guests to your guest list, see below:

1\. Log in to your Evite account.

2\. Click on your initials/photo in the top right corner.

3\. Select **My Invitations**.

4\. Locate your event on the dashboard.

5\. Select **Add Guests**.<br>

<figure><img src="/files/lYrynb92q2nX7TMS4eIP" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

6\. We have 5 different options for you to add more guests, which can be located on the **Add Guests** page by selecting **More ways to add**.

&#x20; \- Manually enter the guests' email addresses or phone numbers in the text box provided.

&#x20; \- **Use Past Guest Lists** to select guests from past events.

&#x20; \- **Search Address Book** to view your Evite account contacts.

&#x20; \- **Import from Google** to import contacts from your Google account.

&#x20; \- **Upload File** to upload an Excel spreadsheet.\
\
7\. Click the **Send Now** button in the top right corner to send to your guests.

# Hide Guest List

**Showing or hiding your guest list**

**Can I control whether guests see who else is invited?**\
Yes. You decide who sees your guest list — just you, or everyone on it.

**How do I hide my guest list?**\
Go to your RSVP Options settings and toggle guest list visibility to private. Guests will still get their Invitation and can RSVP — they just won't see the full list of who else is coming.

**Can I change this setting after I've already sent my Invitation?**\
Yes. You can switch between public and private at any point before or after sending. The change takes effect immediately.

**Why would I want to hide my guest list?**\
A few reasons hosts go private: surprise parties (obviously), smaller gatherings where the full list might feel awkward, or events with VIP attendees who prefer a lower profile. No judgment either way.

**Why would I want to show my guest list?**\
A visible guest list can actually boost RSVPs — when guests see that other people are coming, they're more likely to commit. Useful for bigger gatherings where social momentum matters.

**Can guests see who's coming even if the list is hidden?**\
No. A private guest list means only you can see names and RSVP statuses. Guests will see their own RSVP status, nothing more..&#x20;

**To hide your guest list while the invitation is in draft mode, please follow the steps below:**

1. Log in to your Evite account.&#x20;
2. Create your invitation draft.
3. You can go through the steps to create your invitation.
4. Go to the **Details** step.
5. Click on **Manage Guest Settings** under **Guest Options**.
6. Toggle the setting to keep the guest list private on or off.
7. Select **Save** to save your changes.

\
**Notes:**

* You can use the same instructions to reverse this action.
* You can view your guest comments by going to your Manage Event page.&#x20;
* As the host, the guest list will appear when you view the invitation, no matter what settings you select. The hidden guest list setting will apply to your guests view.
* Regardless of the settings selected, we will always keep your guests email addresses and phone numbers private.

# Edit Guest Email Address

Made a typo in a guest's email? Need to update a phone number? You can now edit guest contact information directly from your guest list — even after your Invitation has been sent.

To edit a guest's email address or phone number:<br>

1. Log into your Evite account.
2. Click on your photo/initials in the top right corner.
3. Select **My Invitations** from the menu.
4. Locate your upcoming event and select **Manage Event**.
5. Scroll down and select **View Guest List**, and locate the guest you need to edit.
6. Click on their contact information.
7. Select **Edit** under their name and contact.
8. Click **Save & Resend** to save your changes and send to the correct contact.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/EBPiHGuG2q5x1Qna2sJY" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/OJcP1EWluXB1FZJFT6qQ" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

**Note:** Once an invitation has been delivered and your guest has submitted their RSVP, you will no longer be able to edit their contact information.&#x20;

# Send a Message to Guests

**Sending a message to your guests**

**Can I message all my guests directly from Evite?**\
Yes. You can send a message to your entire guest list — or a specific group — without leaving your Manage Event page.

**Can I message just some of my guests — like only the people who haven't RSVPed?**\
Yes. You can filter by RSVP status and message a specific group: everyone, attending guests, declined guests, or those who haven't responded yet. Handy for a gentle nudge without bothering the people who already answered.

**Will guests see each other's email addresses when I send a message?**\
No. Each guest receives your message individually. No reply-all situations.

**Is there a limit to how many messages I can send?**\
No cap. Send updates as often as you need — venue change, start time shift, what to bring. Your guests will thank you for the heads up.

**Will guests know the message came from Evite?**\
Yes, messages are sent through Evite, but your name is front and center. It comes from you, delivered by us.

To message your guests, please follow the steps below:

1. Log in to your Evite account.
2. Click on your initials/photo in the top right corner.
3. Select **My Invitations**.
4. Locate your invitation and select **Manage Event**.
5. On the right side of the page, you'll select **Send Message** under **Guest Options**.
6. Choose which group you wish to message.
7. Type out your message.
8. Select **Send**.<br>

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/Im7wgYLt3nspXU11gk27" alt="" width="298"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

To message an individual guest:

1. Log into your Evite account.
2. Click on your initials/photo in the top right corner.
3. Select **My Events**.
4. Locate your invitation and select **Manage Event**.
5. Scroll down and select **View Guest List** and locate the guest you wish to message.
6. Click the arrow by their name.
7. Click on the message icon below their name.
8. Type out your message.
9. Scroll down and select **Send**.<br>

# Host Edit Guest Response

**Editing a guest's RSVP**

**Can I change a guest's RSVP on their behalf?**\
Yes. If someone texts you their answer, calls it in, or just tells you at the grocery store, you can update their RSVP directly from your guest list.

**How do I edit a guest's RSVP?**\
Go to your Manage Event page, open your guest list, find the guest, and update their status. Changes save immediately.

**What RSVP statuses can I set?**\
You can mark a guest as attending, not attending, or maybe. Same options your guests see when they respond themselves.

**Will the guest be notified if I change their RSVP?**\
No. Updating a guest's RSVP doesn't trigger a notification to them — so no awkward "we updated your status" email landing in their inbox.

**What if a guest wants to change their own RSVP later?**\
They can. A guest's ability to update their own response isn't affected by any changes you make on your end. If they have a change of plans, they can go back to their original Invitation and resubmit.

**Can I add a guest who never received an Invitation and still log their RSVP?**\
Yes. Add them to your guest list first, then update their RSVP manually. Useful for tracking responses from people you invited by word of mouth.\

# Added Guest not on the Guest List

**Can't find a guest on your list? Here's what's probably happening.**

There are two common culprits. Either the Invitation wasn't fully sent after you added them, or they're already on your list — just saved under a typo or the wrong name.

**The Invitation didn't get sent yet**

If you left the Add Guests page before completing the last step, your guests were saved but not actually sent an Invitation. They're in a pending state, waiting on you.

To send it now:

1. Log in to your Evite account.
2. Click your name or photo in the top right corner.
3. Select **My Invitations.**
4. Select **Add Guests.**
5. You'll see your saved guests waiting there.
6. Select **Send Invitation** to finish the job.

*Note: If you shared your event via a link — by text, email, or social — guests won't appear on your list until after they RSVP.*

**They might already be on the list under the wrong name**

Before adding them again, search by email address or phone number — not by name. If their name was entered incorrectly, a name search won't surface them.

1. Log in to your Evite account.
2. Click your initials or photo in the top right corner.
3. Select **My Invitations.**
4. Find your Invitation and select **Manage Event.**
5. Select **View Guest List** and search by email address or phone number.

If they show up, you can fix the name by clicking the name and selecting the edit option — so your list stays clean going forward.

# Undelivered Status

**What does "Undelivered" mean on my guest list?**

It means your Invitation didn't make it to that guest's inbox. Undelivered guests show up at the top of your list, highlighted in red — so they're easy to spot and fix.

**Why does this happen?**

A few common reasons:

* The email address has a typo or incorrect domain
* The email address is no longer active
* The guest has an Evite account tied to an old email address, which causes the Invitation to bounce
* You used a school or corporate email address — those tend to have stronger filters that can block incoming Evite emails
* There's a temporary outage with that email domain
* That guest has opted out of Evite communication

**How do I fix it?**

Go to your Manage Event page, find the undelivered guest, and select the edit option next to their name. From there you can correct the email address or swap in a phone number and resend.

If you don't have an alternate email, remove them from the list and provide them with the shareable link directly.

**I got an email saying some guests are undeliverable, but my list looks fine. What now?**

Disregard it. If your guest list shows no undelivered guests, that notification was sent in error. Your Invitations went through.

# Add Family Using Single Email Address

**Inviting a family or couple under one email address**

**Can I invite multiple people using a single email address?**\
Yes — and this is the move for families or couples who share an inbox. Instead of entering one name in the Guest Name field, just enter all their names together. The Invitation goes to one address, but everyone on it feels included.

**How do I set this up when adding guests?**

1. Go to your **Add Guests** page.
2. In the Guest Name field, enter all the names you're inviting under that email address (e.g., "Sam, Jordan & the kids").
3. Click **Add Guest** to save them to your pending list.

**What if I've already added the guest and need to update the name?**

1. Log in to your Evite account.
2. Click your name or photo in the top right corner.
3. Select **My Invitations** from the dropdown.
4. Find your event and click **Manage Event.**
5. Click the the guest's name and email address and select to edit.
6. Update the name field and select **Save.**

**Can guests in the same household each RSVP separately?**\
That's coming soon. Individual RSVP tracking per household member — so you'll know exactly who's in and who's out, even when the whole family shares one email — is on the way. We'll let you know when it's live.

# Forwarding Your Invitation - Not Recommended

**Why you shouldn't forward your Invitation**

**Can guests forward my Invitation to other people?**\
Technically yes — but it causes problems, and we don't recommend it. Every Invitation is tied to a unique guest ID. When someone forwards their copy to another person, that new person lands on the Invitation as if they're the original guest. Any RSVPs or comments they leave get overridden and logged under the wrong name.

**What if I (the host) forward the Invitation?**\
That won't work either. Your Invitation link is tied to your host ID, so anyone you forward it to will just hit a sign-in prompt. They won't be able to view or RSVP to the event.

**So how should I add more guests?**\
Two good options:

* **Add them directly** — enter their email address or phone number from your guest list and send them an Invitation the right way.
* **Share a link** — if you want a more flexible option, a shareable link lets guests RSVP without needing a personal Invitation sent to them directly.

# Cancel Invitation

**Canceling your Invitation**

**Can I cancel my event after I've already sent invitations?**\
Yes. You can cancel at any point before your event date, and you'll have the option to include a personal message informing your guests of any details when you go to cancel.

**How do I cancel?**

1. Log in to your Evite account.
2. Click your initials or photo in the top right corner.
3. Select **My Invitations.**
4. Find the event you want to cancel.
5. Click the three dots to open the menu.
6. Select **Cancel Event** and confirm.
7. You'll be given the option to send your guests a message. Add one if you'd like, or select **Skip** to cancel without a note.

**What happens after I cancel?**\
You will get a prompt to message your guests to inform them of the event cancellation.

**What if my plans change and I want to reinstate the event?**\
It happens. You can reinstate your event any time before the original event date. Go back to **My Invitations,** search for your event by title, and select **Reinstate Event.** Everything picks back up from there.

<br>

# Block Event Host

*

```
**Blocking an event host**<br>
```

```
**Can I stop a specific host from contacting me through Evite?**\
Yes. If you're receiving Invitations you don't want, you can block the host so they can't reach you through Evite again.<br>
**How do I block a host who emailed me an Invitation?**
1. Open the original Invitation email you received.
2. Scroll to the bottom of the email.
3. Click **Block this Host.**
4. You'll land on Evite's site — click **Block** to confirm.<br>
That's it. They won't be able to contact you via Evite going forward.<br>
**How do I block a host who texted me an Invitation?**\
\
Two options:
* Select **Report Junk** directly from the Invitation text to block all future Evite texts.
* Or reach out to Evite Support at [support@evite.com](mailto:support@evite.com) and ask to block a specific host by text or email. Include your cell number so the team can look up the host and take care of it for you.
```

<br>

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/NQj9eHDNfiJATKjf5Nqu" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

# Guest - Edit Name on Guest List

**Editing your name on the guest list**

**My name is spelled wrong on the guest list. Can I fix it myself?**\
Yes — no need to track down the host. If your name was entered incorrectly, you can edit it directly from your Invitation.

**How do I update my name?**

1. Open your Invitation link.
2. Select your RSVP response.
3. Click the pencil icon next to your name.
4. Make your edits and select **Continue** to save.

**What if I've already RSVPed?**\
Same steps — just click **Change RSVP** first to pull the options back up, then follow the steps above.

<br>

# View Messages

**Viewing messages from your host**

**How do I read a message my host sent me?**

1. Open the Invitation link the host sent you.
2. Click **Messages** above the Invitation.
3. Select the message you want to read.

# Shareable Link for Invitation

**What is the shareable link?**\
It's a single link you can send anywhere — text, social media, personal email — so guests can view and RSVP to your event without needing a personal Invitation sent directly to them.

**How do I find my shareable link?**

1. Log in to your Evite account.
2. Click your photo or name in the top right corner.
3. Select **My Invitations.**
4. Find your event and click **Manage Event.**
5. Click **Copy Link.**

**A few things to know before you share:**

* The shareable link works for text, social media, and personal email — send it wherever your guests are.
* Don't share the URL from your browser's address bar. That's your host link, not the guest link. Use **Copy Link** from your dashboard instead.
* Guests you've already added to your guest list individually can't use the shareable link — it won't work for them.
* Guests who receive the link won't appear on your guest list until after they RSVP. So don't worry if the list looks short at first.

# Disable Event Notifications

**Managing your event notifications as a guest**

**Can I turn off notifications for an event I've been invited to?**\
Partially. You can turn off activity notifications — things like RSVP updates, donation updates, and What to Bring list activity. Reminders, host messages, and confirmation notifications can't be disabled.

**How do I update my notification settings from the Invitation?**

1. Open the Invitation.
2. Scroll to the bottom of the page.
3. Select **Notification** **preferences.**
4. Choose your preferred notification settings and save.

**How do I update them from my RSVP confirmation email?**

1. Scroll to the bottom of your RSVP confirmation email.
2. Select **Update Notification Settings.**
3. Choose your preferred settings and select **Save.**

**Will this stop all emails from Evite?**\
No — these settings only control guest activity notifications for that specific event. Host-generated messages and Evite automated emails will still come through. If you want to manage your broader Evite notification preferences, you can do that from your account settings. If you want to stop all emails from Evite, please send your request to <support@evite.com>.

# Update RSVP

**Can I change my RSVP after I've already responded?**\
Yes — plans change. You can update your response any time before the event date.

**How do I update my RSVP?**

1. Open the Invitation link you received.
2. Select **Change RSVP** at the bottom of your screen.
3. Choose your updated response and guest count.
4. Select **Continue** to save.

# Send Text Invitation - Mobile Web

**Can I text my Invitation directly to guests from my phone?**\
Yes. If you're on mobile, you can add guests by phone number and send your Invitation by text — all from Evite.com in your mobile browser.

**How do I send a text Invitation from mobile web?**

1. Log in to your account at Evite.com from your mobile browser.
2. Tap your photo or initials in the top right corner.
3. Select **My Invitations.**
4. Find your event and tap **+ New Guest.**
5. Enter your guest's name and phone number, then tap **Add Guest.**
6. Tap the X in the top right corner to close the add guest panel.
7. Tap **Send to \[x] Guests** when you're ready to send.

# Guest List Limit

**How many guests can I invite?**

Free Invitations support up to 750 guests. If your gathering runs larger than that, Evite Pro bumps that limit to 2,500 guests per Invitation.

**Is there a limit to how many people can RSVP?**\
Not by default — but if your venue has a capacity cap, you can set an RSVP limit from your Manage Event page so responses close once you've hit your number.

&#x20;

# Upload Guest List - Excel Spreadsheet

**Uploading your guest list from a spreadsheet**

**Can I add guests by uploading a spreadsheet instead of entering them one by one?**\
Yes. If your guest list lives in Excel, you can upload it directly — no manual entry needed.

**How do I upload my guest list?**

1. Log in to your Evite account and go to your invitation.
2. Go to **Add Guests** for your Invitation (or start there when creating a new one).
3. Select **More ways to add.**
4. Choose your file and click **Upload File.**
5. Review the list to make sure everything looks right.
6. Click **Send** when you're ready.

**How does my spreadsheet need to be formatted?**

The upload won't work if the file isn't structured correctly. Set it up like this:

* **Column A:** First name (and/or last name — include additional names here if you're adding a family or couple under one contact)
* **Column B:** Email address (leave blank if you're adding by phone instead)
* **Column C:** Phone number (leave blank if you're adding by email instead)

A few things to leave out: column headers, special characters or symbols, and any additional filled columns beyond A, B, and C.

**My file isn't uploading correctly. What now?**\
Send your spreadsheet to <support@evite.com> and the team can help you get the formatting sorted and the list uploaded.

# Limit Per Guest

**Limiting how many additional guests each person can bring**

**Can I control how many plus-ones each guest is allowed?**\
Yes. If you've given guests the option to RSVP with their party size, you can cap how many additional people they bring.

**How do I set a per-guest limit?**

1. Log in to your Evite account.
2. Click your initials or photo in the top right corner.
3. Select **My Invitations.**
4. Find your event and select **Manage Event.**
5. Select **RSVP Options** on the right side of the page.
6. Set your limit in the **Max number of additional guests per RSVP** box (max. 10).
7. Click **Save.**

**A couple of things to know:**

The per-guest limit applies to your entire guest list — you can't set different limits for different guests.

This setting is separate from your overall RSVP cap. The **Plus Ones** limit controls how many extras each guest can bring. The max capacity setting is what closes RSVPs once your total headcount hits a set number. Both can be useful; they just do different jobs.

# Download Guest List

**Downloading your guest list**

**Can I download my guest list to use outside of Evite?**\
Yes. You can export your guest list as a file — useful for printing, sharing with a co-host, or keeping a record outside the app.

**How do I download it?**

1. Log in to your Evite account.
2. Click your initials or photo in the top right corner.
3. Select **My Invitations.**
4. Find your event and select **Manage Event.**
5. Click on **Export guest list** on the right side of the page.

**What's included in the downloaded file?**

Each guest entry includes their name, email address and/or phone number, RSVP status, number in their party, and any comment they left when they responded.\

Is Event Pages free?

Yes — Event Pages is completely free to use. No upgrades, no hidden fees. You can host events for up to 750 guests at no cost.

***

What can I do with Event Pages?

Event Pages is built for casual get-togethers — think dinner parties, book clubs, girls' night, sports leagues, and everything in between. Here's what's included:

* Event details — share the event date, time, location, and any helpful notes like parking or dress code
* Design options — choose from Evite-provided images or add a GIF to set the vibe
* Event sign-ups — perfect for potlucks; let guests claim what they're bringing
* Textable invite link — share your invite directly via text, or add guests to your event so Evite can send RSVP reminders on your behalf
* RSVP tracking — see who's in, who's out, and who’s still on the fence

***

How is Event Pages different from Evite Invitations?

Event Pages is great when you want to get something out quickly without a lot of fuss. Invitations offer more customization and features for events that are a little more formal.

Event Pages includes:

* Basic event details (date, time, location, host note)
* Curated design options: image, event name font, and background
* Event sign-ups
* Textable invite with RSVP tracking

Invitations includes everything above, plus:

* Advanced design customizations (upload your own design, add effects, envelope details, and more)
* Additional features like a host gallery, links, and shared photo album
* Gifting options including registry links, crowdfunding, and charity donations
* Co-host support and the ability to designate a guest of honor

Not sure which to use? If you're keeping it casual, Event Pages has you covered. If your gathering needs a little more, head to[ evite.com](http://evite.com) to browse Invitation templates.

***

What if I want to use features that aren't available in Event Pages, like a registry or photo gallery?

Event Pages doesn't support those features. If you'd like to include a registry, co-host, shared album, or other extras, we'd recommend creating an Invitation instead. You can get started by browsing templates at[ evite.com](http://evite.com).

***

What are the RSVP settings for Event Pages?

Here's what to expect with RSVPs on Event Pages — these settings are on by default and can't be changed at this time:

* Guests can bring up to 9 additional people
* There's no maximum event capacity
* Guest lists are visible to other guests, not private
* There's no way to distinguish between adult and children guests
* An RSVP deadline cannot be set

***

Can I cancel an Event Page?

Yes. You can cancel your Event Page event at any time before the event date. To do so:

1. Log into your Evite account.
2. Click your initials or photo in the top right corner.
3. Select **My Invitations**.
4. Find your Event Page, click the three dots, and select **Cancel event**.

Guests who were added to the event will be notified that it has been cancelled.

***

How do I share my Event Page?

Once your page is created, you'll get a shareable link you can send via text, DM, or however you communicate with your crowd. You can also add guests directly within Evite, and we'll handle sending them reminders to RSVP.

***

Will guests receive reminders to RSVP?

If you add guests to your event through Evite, yes — we'll send them reminders so you're not stuck chasing people down. If you share your event page link on your own (via text or social), reminders won't be sent automatically since those guests aren't added to your guest list.

# RSVP-By Feature

**Setting an RSVP deadline**

**Can I set a cut-off date for RSVPs?**\
Yes. The RSVP Deadline setting lets you choose a date and time after which guests can no longer submit responses — handy when you need a firm headcount by a certain day. You can also set a deadline while still keeping RSVPs open if you'd prefer to collect responses beyond that date.

This feature is part of Evite's **Premium** service. It's included with all Premium templates. If you're using a free design, turning it on will upgrade your Invitation to Premium — which also unlocks all other Premium features.

**How do I set an RSVP deadline for an existing Invitation?**

1. Log in to your Evite account.
2. Click your initials or photo in the top right corner.
3. Select **My Invitations** and find your event.
4. Click **Manage Event.**
5. Select the **RSVP options** on the right side of the page.
6. Toggle on **RSVP Deadline.**
7. Choose your date and time.
8. Select **Save.**

**How do I set it while I'm still building my Invitation?**

1. Go to the **Edit Details** step.
2. Select **Manage Guest Settings.**
3. Toggle on **RSVP Deadline.**
4. Choose your date and time, then select **Save.**

# Event Sign-ups

**What is the Event Sign-ups feature?**\
It's a built-in list where you can tell guests what's needed for the gathering — food, drinks, supplies — and let them claim items before the event. You can add or update the list any time before your event date.

**How do I add an Event Sign-ups list while creating my Invitation?**

1. On the Details or Review step, click **Event sign-ups**.
2. Enter your title, description, items, and quantities needed.
3. Select **Save** and continue building your Invitation.

Two optional settings worth knowing about:

* **Allow guests to add new items** — lets guests write in something they want to bring that isn't already on your list.
* **Require guests to add specifics** — prompts guests to describe what they're bringing when they sign up. Useful for broad categories like Appetizers or Main Entrées so you don't end up with three of the same dish.

**How do I add a sign-ups list after I've already sent my Invitation?**

1. Log in to your Evite account.
2. Click your photo or initials in the top right corner.
3. Select **My Invitations** and find your event.
4. Click the three dots to open the menu and select **Edit Details.**
5. Scroll down and click **+ Event Sign-ups.**
6. Enter your title, description, items, and quantities.
7. Select **Save,** then click **Save changes** in the bottom right corner.

**How do I edit or remove an existing sign-ups list?**

1. Follow steps 1–4 above to get back to **Edit Details.**
2. Scroll down and click **Edit** next to Event Sign-ups.
3. Make your changes and click **Save,** then **Save changes.**

To remove the list entirely, select **Remove section** before saving.

**How do guests sign up for items?**

1. Open the Invitation link.
2. RSVP if you haven't already.
3. Scroll down to the Event Sign-ups section and click **Sign up.**
4. Click **Sign up** next to the item you'd like to claim, select your quantity, and add a description if prompted.
5. Click **Complete sign-up.**

If the host has allowed it, guests can also click **+ Add something new** to contribute an item not already on the list.

**How do guests edit or remove their sign-up?**

Open the Invitation link, scroll to the item you signed up for, and click **Edit.** Make your changes and click **Save** — or select **Remove my sign-up** to cancel it.

**Can I assign items to specific guests?**\
Not currently. Guests choose what they're bringing on their own after they RSVP. The list is first-come, first-claimed.

# Disable Gifting Suggestions

**Turning off gifting suggestions**

**What are gifting suggestions?**\
By default, Evite shows guests gift ideas on your Invitation. If you'd prefer to keep the focus off gifts — or if you've noted "no gifts please" — you can turn this off.

**Is there a cost to disable gifting suggestions?**\
Yes. Turning off gifting suggestions is a Premium feature. If you're already using a Premium template, it's included. If you're on a free design, disabling it will upgrade your Invitation to Premium — pricing is based on your guest list size and can be viewed [here](https://support.evite.com/support/solutions/articles/72000576133-invitation-pricing).

**How do I turn off gifting suggestions?**

1. Log in to your Evite account.
2. Click your initials or photo in the top right corner.
3. Select **My Invitations** and find your event.
4. Click **Manage Event,** then **Edit Details.**
5. Scroll down to **Gift Guides** and select to edit, then toggle gifting options off.

If you're on a **free template:** you'll be prompted to upgrade to Premium. Follow the steps to enter your payment information and click **Purchase & Send.**

If you're already on a **Premium template:** select **Done** to save. That's it.<br>

# Map on Invitation

**Maps on your Invitation**

**Does Evite automatically include a map for my event location?**\
Yes. If you enter a street address in your event details, a Google Maps link is added to your Invitation automatically. Guests will see map with the event locate with the event details — no extra steps needed. The same place where you enter your location details has the setting for you to enable or disable the map view.

**How should I format my address for the best results?**\
Enter it exactly as you would search for it in Google Maps — street address, city, state. If you have additional details like a suite number, apartment, or special directions, add those in your message to guests instead. Extra information in the address field can prevent the map from pinning correctly.

**The map is showing the wrong location. What can I do?**\
Two options: contact Google Maps directly to correct the pin for that address, or you can go back to your location settings and turn the map off.

# Guest Name on Envelope - Premium

**Will my guests see their name on the envelope when they receive my Invitation?**\
Yes — all Premium Invitations display each guest's name on the envelope when it arrives. It pulls directly from the name you entered when adding them to your guest list.

**While editing, the envelope says "Guest's name will go here." Is that normal?**\
Yes. That's placeholder text — it swaps in each guest's actual name once the Invitation is sent. As the host, you won't see a personalized preview since you're not viewing it as a guest. Trust that it'll show correctly on their end.

**How do I make sure the right name appears?**\
Double-check the name field when you're on the Add Guests step. Whatever you enter there is what shows up on the envelope — so it's worth a quick review before you send.<br>

# Poll Feature

**Adding a poll to your Invitation**

**What can I use the poll feature for?**\
Polls let you ask guests a question directly on the Invitation — meal selection, activity preferences, whatever helps you plan. Guests respond when they RSVP, and you can track the results from your dashboard.

**How do I add a poll?**

1. Log in to your Evite account.
2. Click your initials or photo in the top right corner.
3. Select **My Invitations** and find your event.
4. Click **Manage Event,** then **Edit Details.**
5. Scroll down and toggle on **Poll.**
6. Enter your question and answer options.
7. Click **Save.**

**How do I view the poll results?**

1. Open your invitation page.
2. Scroll to the bottom of your Invitation page to the **Poll** section.
3. Click the vote totals next to each option to see which guests selected it.

<br>

# Change Host Name on Invitation

**Changing the host name on your Invitation**

**Where does my host name come from?**\
By default, it pulls from the name saved in your Evite account profile. If that name isn't what you want guests to see, you have a couple of ways to change it.

**How do I update my account profile name?**\
Do this before creating your Invitation draft so the correct name carries over automatically.

1. Log in to your Evite account.
2. Click your initials in the top right corner.
3. Go to **Account Settings → Profile.**
4. Click **Edit My Profile,** make your changes, and select **Save.**

**How do I change the host name on a specific Invitation?**\
You can enter a different name in the Hosted By field without changing your account profile — useful if you're hosting under a different name for one event.

1. Go to your **Manage Event** page.
2. Select **Edit Event** and scroll down and click **Edit** by **Host Details**.
3. Edit the name in the **Hosted By** field.
4. Click **Done** to save.

What guests see is whatever you've entered in the **Host Display Name** field. If you also typed your name directly into the invitation design, you'll need to update that text box separately.

**How do I update the host name on the guest list?**

1. Log in and go to **My Events.**
2. Find your event and click **Manage Event.**
3. Open **View Guest List.**
4. Click your name on the guest list.
5. Make your changes and click **Save.**

**What if I want to add another host and give them admin access?**\
That's the co-host feature — it lets you add someone else to help manage the event. You can find instructions for adding a co-host [here](https://support.evite.com/support/solutions/articles/72000576018-add-a-co-host-free-).

# Add a Co-Host

**Adding a co-host to your Invitation**

**What can a co-host do?**\
A co-host gets admin access to your event — they can add and remove guests, edit the Invitation, send messages to guests, and more. Helpful when you're planning with a partner or splitting the hosting duties.

**How do I add a co-host?**

1. Log in to your Evite account.
2. Click the circle icon in the top right corner.
3. Select **My Invitations** and find your event.
4. Click the three dots to the right of your event and select **Edit Details.**
5. Scroll down to Host Details and select **+ Co-Host.**
6. Enter the co-host's name and email address.
7. Click **Done.**

Your co-host will receive an email invitation to confirm — they'll need to accept it before they have access.

**Can a co-host remove me as the host?**\
No. Co-hosts can manage the event, but they can't remove the primary host.

**How do I remove a co-host?**\
Follow steps 1-&#x35;**,** and click **Remove Co-Host.**

# Sample Text Still Showing

**Sample text is still showing on my Invitation**

**Why does my Invitation still show the placeholder text instead of my event details?**\
The text boxes on the design need to be edited directly — the event details you fill in during the second step of setup don't automatically populate onto the design. If you skipped that step, the sample text stays until you replace it manually.

**Can I fix it after I've already sent the Invitation?**\
Yes. You can edit the design text any time before your event date.

1. Log in to your Evite account.
2. Click your initials or photo in the top right corner.
3. Select **My Invitations** and find your event.
4. Click the three dot menu and select **Edit Details.**
5. Click **Edit Design** on the invitation imag&#x65;**.**
6. Click on any text box with sample text, replace it with your event details, and save when you're done.

# Maximum Capacity - Guest List Limit

**Setting a maximum capacity for your event**

**Can I close RSVPs once I've hit a certain headcount?**\
Yes. You can set a capacity limit on your event — once the RSVP count reaches that number, guests who try to respond will see a message that the event is full.

**How do I set a capacity limit?**

1. Log in to your Evite account.
2. Click your initials or photo in the top right corner.
3. Select **My Invitations** and find your event.
4. Click **Manage Event,** then select **RSVP Options** on the right side of the page.
5. Enter your limit in the **Set an event capacity** field.
6. Click **Done.**

**Can I change or remove the limit later?**\
Yes — follow the same steps above to update the number or clear the field entirely.

# Reinstate Canceled Invitation

**Reinstating a canceled Invitation**

**Can I undo a cancellation?**\
Yes — if your event date hasn't passed yet, you can reinstate a canceled Invitation and pick up right where you left off.

**How do I reinstate my Invitation?**

1. Log in to your Evite account.
2. Click your initials or photo in the top right corner.
3. Select **My Invitations** and find your canceled event.
4. Select **Reinstate Event** and confirm.

**What if the event date has already passed?**\
Reach out to Evite Support at <support@evite.com> and the team can help.

# Locate Draft

**Finding a saved draft**

**I started creating something and can't find it. Where did it go?**\
Drafts are saved to your account automatically. If you're not seeing it, first make sure you're logged into the right account — it's easy to have more than one Evite account across different email addresses.

**How do I find my draft?**

1. Log in to your Evite account.
2. Click your photo or initials in the top right corner.
3. Select **My Invitations, My SignUp Sheets,** or **My Greeting Cards** — depending on what you were working on.
4. Scroll down to find your saved drafts. You can also use the search bar or filter options to find it by title.
5. Click **Edit Draft** to pick up where you left off.

# Add to Calendar

**Adding an event to your calendar**

**How do I add an event to my calendar from an Invitation?**\
Open the Invitation and click the calendar icon on the event page. From there, choose your preferred calendar app and add it.

**The start and end times look wrong on my calendar. What's going on?**\
Two things to check:

* If the host didn't include an end time on the Invitation, your calendar may show the start and end time as the same. You can edit the end time directly in your calendar.
* If you're using Outlook and the time is off, it's likely a timezone setting in Outlook rather than anything on Evite's end. Check that your timezone is set correctly in Outlook and update if needed.

# Delete Draft

**Deleting a draft**

**How do I delete an Invitation draft I no longer need?**

1. Log in to your Evite account.
2. Click your name or photo in the top right corner.
3. Select **My Invitations.**
4. Find the draft on your event list.
5. Click the three dots next to **Edit Draft.**
6. Select **Delete Draft.**

**What happens if I just leave a draft without deleting it?**\
It'll expire on its own once the event date you entered passes — as long as it was never sent. So if you've moved on from the idea, you can either delete it manually or let it age out.

# Pledgeling - Add Non-Profit to List of Organizations

**Adding a nonprofit to the donation list**

**Can I add a charity that isn't showing up in Evite's options?**\
Yes. Evite partners with Pledgeling to power event donations, and their team can add new organizations to the list. If your charity isn't showing up, submit a request directly to Pledgeling [here](https://hello.pledgeling.com/support/organizations/new).

It typically takes up to 2 business days for them to verify the organization and make it available.

**Who do I contact if I have questions about the process?**\
Reach out to Pledgeling Support directly — they handle organization verification and can answer any questions about your specific request.

# Add Website Link to Invitation

**Adding a website link to your Invitation**

**Where do I add a link on my Invitation?**\
Links go in the **Host Note** section of your event details. Once added, they'll appear in blue under the Host Details section — clickable for guests.

**How do I add a link while creating my Invitation?**

1. Go to **Event Details** and scroll down to **Host Note.**
2. Type your message and paste in your link, or use the **+Link** option.
3. Select **Save** to continue.

**How do I add a link after I've already sent my Invitation?**

1. Log in to your Evite account.
2. Click your name or photo in the top right corner.
3. Select **My Invitations** and find your event.
4. Click the three dots to the right of your event and select **Edit Details.**
5. Enter your message and link in the **Host Note** section or the **+Link** feature and save.

<br>

# Copy Invitation

**Copying a past or current Invitation**

**Can I reuse an Invitation I've already created?**\
Yes. If you host the same event regularly — or just want a head start from a previous design — you can copy any current or past Invitation from your account and update the details for the new event.

**How do I copy an Invitation?**

1. Log in to your Evite account.
2. Click your photo or initials in the top right corner.
3. Select **My Invitations** and find the event you want to copy.
   * For a **current event:** click the three dots and select **Duplicate Invitation.**
   * For a **past event:** select **Duplicate Invitation**.
4. Confirm by selecting **Yes, Duplicate.**
5. Update the event details, add your guests, and send when you're ready.

**I don't see a copy option on one of my past events. Why?**\
Older events created in a previous version of Evite can't be copied — that format is no longer supported. You'll need to start fresh with a new Invitation for those.

**Can I copy someone else's event?**\
No. You can only copy Invitations that you created from your own account.

# Create Invitation - Free or Premium

**Creating an Invitation: Free vs. Premium**

**What's the difference between Free and Premium Invitations?**\
All designs in the Evite gallery are labeled as Free or Premium — look for the Premium crown icon on Premium designs. Free Invitations cost nothing to send unless you add a Premium upgrade (like custom envelopes, liners, stamps, backgrounds, or effects). Premium Invitations have a charge based on your guest list size.

**How do I create and send an Invitation?**

**Step 1: Choose your design**\
Browse by category or search by keyword to find the right look. Click on a design to start customizing.

**Step 2: Customize**\
Click on any text to edit it. On the left side, you'll find additional options:

* **Text** — adjust font, size, color, and spacing
* **Backgrounds\*** — choose a color or texture behind the envelope and Invitation
* **Effects\*** — add reveal and overlay animations guests see when they open the Invitation
* **Envelope\*** — pick your envelope color, stamp, and liner

\*Backgrounds, effects, envelopes, liners, and stamps are all Premium features. Selecting any of these on a free design will upgrade your Invitation to Premium.

**Step 3: Add event details**\
Click **Next: Event Details** and fill in your event information on the right side of the page. Scroll down to access additional event features.

**Step 4: Gifting**\
Click **Next: Gifting** and choose your preferred gifting options. Gifting is optional on Premium Invitations. Links to suggested gifting will be automatically included with free invitations.

**Step 5: Review**\
Click **Next: Review** to check everything over and make any final edits.

**Step 6: Add guests**\
Click **Next: Add Guests,** add your guests using any of the available options..

**Step 7: Send**\
Click **Next: Finish & Send.** For Premium, select your pricing package based on guest list size, enter your payment information, and click **Purchase & Send.** You'll land on a confirmation page once it's sent.

# Add a Gift Registry

**Adding a gift registry to your Invitation**

**Can I link my registry directly on the Invitation?**\
Yes. You can add up to three registries so guests have everything in one place.

**How do I add a registry while creating my Invitation?**\
On the **Gifting** step:

1. Click **Add.**
2. Enter the registry name and URL.
3. Click **Add** to sav&#x65;**.**

**How do I add a registry after I've already sent my Invitation?**

1. Log in to your Evite account.
2. Click your initials or photo in the top right corner.
3. Select **My Invitations** and find your event.
4. Click the three dot menu and select **Edit Details.**
5. Scroll down to **Want to include more details?**
6. Select **+ Links, + Gift Guides** or **+ Wishlist** and enter your registry URL.
7. Click **Add.**

# Send Invitation by Text

**Sending an Invitation by text**

**Can I send my Invitation by text instead of email?**\
Yes. You can add guests by phone number and send your Invitation as a text — from desktop, mobile browser, or the app. A few things to know before you start:

* Text Invitations are supported for U.S. and Canada numbers only. For international guests, use email or share your event via a shareable link instead.
* Each guest needs a name attached to their phone number — you can't send to a number without one.
* Invitation texts will come from the short code **296-94.**

**How do I send by text from desktop?**

1. Log in to your Evite account and click your name or photo in the top right corner.
2. Select **My Invitations,** find your event, and click **Add Guests.**
3. Enter each guest's name and phone number, then click **Add Guest** to save them to your pending list.
4. When you're ready to send, click **Send to \[x] Guests.**

You can also upload phone numbers in bulk via an Excel spreadsheet — details [here](https://help.evite.com/s/article/add-guests-via-excel-spreadsheet---premium).

**How do I send by text from a mobile browser?**

1. Log in to Evite.com from your mobile browser and tap your photo or initials in the top right corner.
2. Select **My Invitations** and find your event.
3. Tap **+ New Guest,** enter the guest's name and phone number, then tap **Add Guest.**
4. Tap the X to close the panel, then tap **Send to \[x] Guests** when you're ready.

**How do I send by text from the app?**

1. Allow Evite to access your contacts when prompted.
2. Search from Phone contacts, Evite contacts, or Past guest lists — or tap the **+** icon to add someone manually by name and phone number.
3. Tap **Send to \[x] Guests** or **Next: Review & Send** when ready.

# Resend Invitation

While we do not have a direct resend option, we can offer you a workaround that functions as a resend option. Please follow the steps below to resend your invitation:

**Resending an Invitation to a guest**

**Can I resend my Invitation to a guest who didn't receive it?**\
Yes. You can resend the Invitation to individual guests directly from your guest list. You'll see a green confirmation message in the bottom right corner when it goes through.

**How do I resend to a guest?**

1. Log in to your Evite account and click your name or photo in the top right corner.
2. Select **My Invitations** and find your event.
3. Click **Manage Event.**
4. Click **View Guest List**, and then click on the name of the guest you want to resend to.
5. Select **Resend.**

**Can I resend to all guests at once?**\
Not directly — resending is one guest at a time. If you need to resend to a large group, reach out to Evite Support at <support@evite.com> and the team can help.

**Is there a limit on how often I can resend?**\
You can resend to the same guest once per hour.

# Invitation Reminder

**Managing event reminders**

**Does Evite automatically send reminders to my guests?**\
Yes — by default, Evite schedules one reminder 2 days before your event date. If you've set an RSVP deadline, the reminder goes out 2 days before that instead. Reminders go to all invited guests except those who've responded Not Attending.

If you create your Invitation within 7 days of the event, the automatic reminder won't be scheduled — but you can set one manually.

**How do I add, edit, or disable reminders?**

1. Log in to your Evite account and click your initials in the top right corner.
2. Select **My Invitations** and find your event.
3. Click **Manage Event,** then **Reminders.**
4. Choose your preferred reminder date(s) and time(s) — you can schedule up to 5.
5. To remove a reminder, click the trash can icon next to it.
6. Select **Save** to apply your changes.

You can optionally preview the reminder message before saving.

**A few things to know:**

* Reminders can be scheduled as early as 30 minutes from now and up to 30 minutes before the event start time.
* Yes and Maybe guests receive reminders by email. Not Replied guests receive them by email or SMS, depending on how they were originally invited.
* Reminder messages aren't customizable. If you want to send a personalized note, use the Messages feature instead.
* Reminder settings aren't available if RSVPs are turned off for your event.
* You'll receive a confirmation email when reminders are sent.
* Delivery status for each reminder can be checked via the checkmark indicator in your reminder settings.

# Edit Invitation

**Editing your Invitation**

**Can I make changes after I've already sent my Invitation?**\
Yes. You can edit your event details and design text any time before your event date.

**How do I edit my Invitation?**

1. Log in to your Evite account and click your initials or photo in the top right corner.
2. Select **My Invitations,** find your event, and click the three dot menu.
3. Select **Edit Details.**
4. Update your event details (date, time, location, host note, gifting options) on the right side of the page.
5. To edit text that appears on the design itself, click **Edit Design** and make your changes in the text editor.
6. Save your changes when you're done.

**Do I need to update both places?**\
Yes — if your event details and your design text don't match, guests will see inconsistent information. Make sure any change (like a new time or location) is updated in both the event details and the design.

# Upload Your Own Design

A step-by-step guide to uploading your own design on Evite and sending it to your guests.

**Uploading your own design**

**Can I use my own custom design instead of an Evite template?**\
Yes. Evite offers Upload Your Own Design templates so you can bring a design you've already created. A few things to know before you start:

# General & Troubleshooting

# Text Invitation Not Showing in Evite Account

**A text Invitation isn't showing in my Evite account**

**Why can't I see the Invitation I received by text in my account?**\
Text Invitations don't appear in your Evite account until after you RSVP. When you submit your response, you'll be asked for an email address — as long as you enter the same email address registered to your Evite account, the event will show up there going forward.

**What if I've registered my phone number with Evite?**\
That alone won't make the Invitation appear. You still need to RSVP and enter your account email address for the event to connect to your account.

# Cancel Invitation

**Canceling your Invitation**

**Can I cancel my event after invitations have already been sent?**\
Yes. You can cancel any time before your event date. Guests will be notified, and you'll have the option to include a personal message when you do.

**How do I cancel?**

1. Log in to your Evite account and click your initials or photo in the top right corner.
2. Select **My Invitations** and find your event.
3. Click the three dots to open the menu and select **Cancel Event.**
4. Confirm the cancellation.
5. Choose to send your guests a message or select **Skip** to send the cancellation without a note.

**A few things to know after canceling:**

* Once the event is canceled, you won't be able to message your guests through Evite. If you need to follow up, do it before you cancel or reach out directly.
* Guests will still have the original Invitation email in their inbox. When they click **View Invitation,** they'll see that the event has been canceled.
* If you reinstate the event later, existing RSVPs will stay as they were — they won't be reset.

# Remove Yourself from Guest List

**Removing yourself from a guest list**

**Can I remove myself from an Evite guest list?**\
Not directly — guests can't edit the guest list themselves. But there are a few ways to get it handled:

* **Ask the host** to remove you directly from their guest list.
* **Contact Evite Support** at <support@evite.com> with the event link and a request to be removed.
* **Block the host** using the Block Host link at the bottom of your Invitation email or text. This prevents the host from contacting you through Evite going forward.

<br>

# Incorrect Sender Name in Email

**The sender name on my Invitation email looks wrong**

**Why does my Invitation show the wrong name as the sender?**\
This is usually a contact-saving issue on your end. If you've received an Evite from that person before, you may have accidentally saved their name to Evite's general sending email address. Now any Invitation that comes from that address shows that saved name instead of the actual host's name.

**How do I fix it?**\
Go into your email app's contact settings and look up any name saved to either of these addresses:

* <info@mailva.evite.com>
* <evite@mailva.evite.com>

Update or remove the name saved there, and future Invitations should display correctly.

This is a setting in your email app — Evite doesn't have access to change it on your behalf. If you're having trouble finding where to make the edit, your email provider's support team can point you in the right direction.

# Donations - Distribution Questions

**Questions about donation distribution**

**How do donations made through my Invitation get distributed?**\
Donations are processed through Pledgeling, Evite's charitable giving partner. Pledgeling distributes funds to the selected charity or personal crowdfund account the month following your event — typically within the first two weeks of that month.

Evite doesn't take a fee from donations.

**I have a question about a specific donation. Who do I contact?**\
Reach out to Pledgeling directly — they handle all donation processing and distribution. You can contact their support team [here](https://www.pledgeling.com/contact/).

<br>

# Guest Viewed Status

**Seeing who has viewed your Invitation**

**Can I tell if a guest has opened my Invitation?**\
Yes. Once a guest views your Invitation, **Viewed** appears by their name on the guest list.

**How do I check the viewed status?**

Two ways to get there:

**From the Invitation page:**

1. Log in and click your name or photo in the top right corner.
2. Select **My Invitations** and click on your event title.
3. Scroll down to the Guest List section and click **View All.**

**From Manage Event:**

1. Log in and click your name or photo in the top right corner.
2. Select **My Invitations,** find your event, and click **Manage Event.**
3. Scroll down and select **View Guest List**.

# Can't View Invitation - Not on the Guest List

**"You're not on the guest list" — what this means**

**I clicked my Invitation link and got an error saying I'm not on the guest list. Why?**\
This page appears when you've been removed from the guest list by the host. Your original Invitation link no longer gives you access to the event details.

Evite can't add you back to a guest list — only the host can do that. If you think this was a mistake, reach out to the host directly.

# Locate Invitation

**Finding an Invitation in your account**

**Where do I find my Invitations?**

1. Log in to your Evite account.
2. Click your initials/photo in the top right corner.
3. Select **My Invitations.**

Upcoming Invitations — both ones you've created and ones you've received — appear toward the top of the list.

**I'm logged in but still can't find it. What now?**\
First, make sure you're logged into the right account. It's easy to have multiple Evite accounts across different email addresses, and the Invitation will only show up in the account it was sent to or from.

If you've checked and still can't find it, reach out to Evite Support at <support@evite.com> with the event title, event date, and the email addresses or phone numbers of at least two guests on the list.

# Not Receiving Invitations

**Not receiving an Invitation you were expecting**

**I was added to a guest list but never got the Invitation. What should I check?**

**If you were invited by email:**

* Check your spam or junk folder — Evite emails sometimes land there.
* Make sure the host added you with the right email address. A typo or old address is a common culprit.
* Confirm you were actually added. It's worth a quick check with the host to verify they added you and what contact info they used.
* Add <info@mailva.evite.com>, <evite@mailva.evite.com> to your Safe Contacts list. For school or corporate email, ask your IT team to whitelist these addresses.
* If you have an Evite account, log in and go to **Account Settings** to check which email is saved as your primary address. Invitations always go to the primary address, even if you have multiple emails on file.
* You may have previously blocked the host or marked Evite as spam. If either of those could apply, contact Evite Support at <support@evite.com> — the team can check your account and clear it if needed.

**If you were invited by text:**

* The host may have used an old or incorrect phone number. Check with them to confirm what they used.
* Your phone may have been off or out of service when the text was sent.
* Evite texts come from short code **296-94.** If your phone plan doesn't accept short-code texts, check with your carrier to enable them.
* Text Invitations are only available to U.S. and Canada numbers. International texting isn't currently supported.
* You may have previously blocked texts from 296-94. Contact <support@evite.com> and the team can look up your number and unblock texts if needed.

**Still not receiving it?**\
Reach out to <support@evite.com> and the team can escalate for further troubleshooting.

# Phishing Emails

How to tell the difference between a real Evite and a phishing email

Evite has seen a notable rise in phishing scams. Scammers send emails that look like Evite Invitations but are not sent by Evite. These fake emails use Evite’s branding and formatting to trick recipients into clicking malicious links. ‍

The good news: real Evite emails have clear, verifiable signals that distinguish them from fakes. Here’s how to spot them.

### **First, what is phishing?**

Phishing is when a scammer sends an email designed to look like it's from a trusted source to trick you into clicking a link or handing over personal information. The emails can look surprisingly convincing. The sender, the branding, even the layout can seem legitimate. That’s why it’s important to know how to distinguish them.

### **Three ways to check for phishing**

There are three reliable signals that separate a real Evite from a fake. If you’re not sure if an email is actually from Evite, try all three.

#### **1: Check the sender’s email address**

This is the single most reliable indicator. Real Evite emails ONLY ever come from the domain evite.com and verified subdomains of evite.com.<br>

All these domains are authenticated with SPF, DKIM, and DMARC. If you use Gmail, you can verify this by clicking the three-dot menu in the email and selecting “Show original” — all three will show as PASS.

<figure><img src="https://www.evite.com/cms_proxy/67afcdfc6e901cdfb811bece/69dd7552734cd26de5517327_02_legit%20email%20(1).png" alt=""><figcaption><p>This is what a legitimate email from Evite will look like.</p></figcaption></figure>

Phishing emails will sometimes use what look like personal email or Gmail addresses to send. This is a clear red flag. Evite will never send from a gmail.com, yahoo.com, hotmail.com, or any personal email address.&#x20;

<figure><img src="https://www.evite.com/cms_proxy/67afcdfc6e901cdfb811bece/69dd85592c172aa9b0743d31_03_phishing%20email%20(2).png" alt=""><figcaption><p>This is what a phishing email may look like.</p></figcaption></figure>

**Be aware:** If the sender appears to be someone you know personally (e.g., a friend’s email address), their account may have been hacked and used to send phishing emails. This is a different—though related—scam. Evite is not involved in that scenario either.

#### **2: Hover over links before clicking**

Before clicking any button or link in an email, hover your mouse over it (on desktop). The destination URL will appear in the bottom-left corner of your browser or email client.

**Example:**

Step 1: Hover over the “View & RSVP” button or any link in the email.

Step 2: Look at the URL that appears at the bottom of your screen.

Real Evite links go to <https://evite.com> or <https://evite.me>. Scam links go somewhere else entirely.<br>

**Key rule:** If the hovered URL does not contain evite.com as the main domain, treat the email as a phishing attempt regardless of how legitimate it looks.

#### **3: Verify email authentication headers (advanced)**

We reviewed this briefly in item #1, but for users who want technical confirmation, Gmail and most email clients allow you to inspect the full email headers and verify whether the message passed authentication checks.

**How to check in Gmail:**

1. Open the email in Gmail.
2. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner of the email.
3. Select “Show original”
4. Look for SPF, DKIM, and DMARC — all three should say “PASS” for legitimate Evite emails.

Scammers who try to spoof Evite’s domains will generally fail these checks and be filtered to spam automatically. If a phishing email does reach your inbox and you check the headers, you will typically see FAIL or SOFTFAIL for one or more of these fields.

### **At a glance: real vs. phishing**

<figure><img src="https://www.evite.com/cms_proxy/67afcdfc6e901cdfb811bece/69dd70c729bdf61ad4788784_04_at%20a%20glance.png" alt=""><figcaption><p>Reference this cheat sheet for a quick look at how to detect phishing emails.</p></figcaption></figure>

### **What to do if you receive a phishing email**

If you have received a suspicious email claiming to be from Evite:

1. Do not click any links in the email.
2. If you already clicked a link, clear your browser’s cookies and cache, and run an anti-virus scan on your device.
3. Report the email as phishing in your email client (Gmail: three-dot menu → “Report phishing”).
4. Contact Evite customer support if you have questions or concerns.
5. If it appears the sender’s personal email account was hacked (i.e., a friend’s address sent you a fake-looking Evite), notify that person so they can secure their account.

We hope these tips help you keep your account safe from any future phishing attempts.

3. Enable **Plus ones** if it isn't already on.
4. Tap the **+9** dropdown and select your preferred limit.
5. Tap **Done** to save.

**A couple of things to know:**

The plus-one limit applies to everyone on your guest list — you can't set different limits for individual guests.

This is separate from your overall event capacity. The **Plus ones** limit controls how many extras each guest can bring. The max capacity setting is what closes RSVPs once your total headcount hits a set number. Both can be useful — they just do different jobs.

&#x20;

# Adults vs. Children RSVP

**Tracking adults and children separately on Android**

**Can I ask guests to RSVP with separate counts for adults and children?**\

**How do I turn it on?**

1. Log in to the Evite app and tap **My Events.**
2. Tap on your Invitation, then tap the gear icon next to Guest List.

   * **+ (new guest)** — add someone manually who isn't in any of your contact lists
4. Select your guests and tap **Send to \[x] new guest(s).**

**A couple of things to know:**

Or at any time after RSVPing:

1. Log in to the Evite app and tap **My Events.**
2. Tap on the Invitation and scroll down to **Settings.**
3. Choose your notification preferences and tap **Save.**

**What do these settings control?**\
Notification settings apply to event activity only — things like new RSVPs or guest list updates. They don't affect host messages or event reminders, which will still come through regardless.
